Eng. Khaled brings in 33 years of diverse and successful achievements in the gas industry in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.

In 2014, he co-founded Dolphinus holdings and is overlooking all its technical and strategic activities.
A veteran of the energy industry, he played a key role in the development of the gas and power private sector in Egypt and the region.  
His efforts over the past 33 years, led to the penetration of the gas utilization in several countries in the Middle East and Africa.

In 1997, Eng. AbuBakr co-founded TAQA Arabia with several regional funds, and he served as its CEO until 2013, then became its Executive Chairman to date. TAQA Arabia is the leading private energy distribution company in Egypt distributing 5 to 9 BCM of gas every year, serving more than 1 million customers and converting 100,000 new gas customers every year.
Prior to 1997, and for 13 years , Eng. AbuBakr worked with AMOCO and AMEC in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea and served in several executive positions in Egypt’s state-owned energy companies, encompassing roles from gas project management to developing Egypt’s gas infrastructure.

Khaled serves as the Chairman of the Egyptian Gas association, Vice-President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and its Chairman of Energy Committee for eight years. He is also the President of the Italian Egyptian Business Council and Board member of several industrial companies.
Eng. AbuBakr holds B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University and an MBA in Management of Oil and Gas companies from Montreal University. He completed the Reform and Privatization program at Harvard University and a Diploma in International Oil and Gas Financial Management from the University of Texas.
Eng. Khaled serves on the Board of the International Gas Union since 2009 to 2021 and is appointed as its Regional Coordinator for Africa and the Middle East.
